Guajiros: in Cuba, farmers and people from the countryside, far from the big cities, are known as Guajiro (from war-hero).
Many of them, mainly those who live in the area of Viñales (cradle of tobacco), are descendants of Spaniards, mainly from the Canary Islands, and still maintain their passion for animals, agriculture, tobacco, cockfighting, etc.
This work is the fourth part of a larger project that seeks to document the 4 races or ethnographic groups that make up the racial identity of Cubans: Spanish descendants, Indian descendants, African and Chinese.
This documentary work began as a result of my passion for rural areas and is gradually becoming one of the four "legs" that make up a long term project.
In the photographic edition I have included photography of people of all ages but without a doubt my gaze has often gone towards children, perhaps to unconsciously compensate for the great quantity of photographs and themes where the elderly were the protagonists (project old hats and project the last Chinese in Cuba).
