Anonymous island is a photographic essay in which I document some elements in Cuba that interest me but with the premise of not making any kind of portrait or showing faces at any time.
The ease of taking portraits of the Cuban people is well known due to their extreme kindness, but in this case I wanted to escape from that "ease" to take photographs as visceral as possible that would help me show some realities such as religion, politics, dance, sensuality, humility, dreams, immigration, etc.
I have been able to verify through this photographic project that although in general the photographs do not need to be accompanied by text or explanations, in this case when I have had the opportunity to describe what each photograph means to me, it has been a surprise for the spectators who were listening to my version. There too lies the magic of photography, in the multiple and different interpretations that can be given to each work.
